The world leaders who got their phones out and took photos as Pope Francis's coffin was carried away... while others showed their respect
After mourners were criticised for taking selfies with the body of Pope Francis earlier this week, you would think the world's leaders would consider leaving their phones in their pockets for the pontiff's funeral. However, a number of dignitaries couldn't resist pulling out their mobiles to take pictures and videos of the late Pope's humble wooden casket as it was back towards St Peter's Basilica. As many in the front row - including US President Donald Trump , French President Emmanuel Macron and Finland 's President Alexander Stubb - burst into applause, those further back could be seen holding their devices aloft. Following his death at the age of 88 on Monday, Pope Francis was today bid goodbye by some 250,000 mourners, including top global leaders and dignitaries.

The politics of Pope Francis' funeral seating plan revealed: How Donald Trump DID get in the front row after all - while Prince William and Keir Starmer are relegated further back
The death of Pope Francis saw the world's leaders and great dignitaries surrender themselves to a higher power - that of the Vatican's funeral planners. Leaders including Volodymyr Zelensky , Donald Trump, Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron are scattered across a seating arrangement described as a 'master plan' in stage-managing 'big egos'. And while there had been speculation that Trump would be in the third row - which he would have likely seen as a snub - the leader of the free world found himself front and centre for the service.

Donald Trump is accused of breaking the dress code at Pope Francis' funeral (along with Volodymyr Zelensky and Joe Biden)
The president, who sat in the front row of hundreds of foreign dignitaries and royalty, donned a mid-blue outfit, adorned with a pin showing the American flag. He paired it with a shiny blue tie. Melania, sitting beside her husband on her 55th birthday, could be seen pairing a conservative black coat with a lace veil and gloves. It comes just two months after Ukranian president Volodymyr Zelensky was branded 'disrespectful' by a reporter in the White House for not wearing a suit on a visit to the Oval Office - with reports claiming Trump was irritated by his attire.
